“Taste of Italy” begins today 31st May 2021 till 4th June 2021 at @zuma_grill which is easily one of the finest places to dine in Abuja. We were invited for a tasting of some dishes from their curated Italian menu in honour of their Taste of Italy week.

We started off with a delicious Prosecco and the bread course which featured 4 different kinds of bread served with a sweet chili infused cream cheese and a green olive spread. For soup, we had a Chilled Gazpacho with grilled shrimp and avocado. This soup was light, mildly seasoned and quite the palate cleanser due to its cool taste and flavour. For starters, we had a delicious Linguine allo scoglio which is a hearty pasta dish made with seafood mix, linguine, cherry tomato, tomato sauce, lemon, garlic and parsley. We loved every single detail in this pasta dish, it was flavourful and satisfying. For mains, we had Milanese Escalope and Beef Rib Eye. The escalope was quite the iconic dish with perfectly coated and seasoned chicken breast served with a salad. The crust was well-seasoned, crisp and golden.

Lastly, the Beef Rib Eye “Tagliata Rucola e Grana” was a flawless sliced beef served with Italian parmesan, rocket and roast potatoes. This steak was juicy, tender, packed a lot of flavour and had the perfect medium doneness that we requested for. We paired all our courses with a sweet white wine and prosecco.

We loved the feast and definitely got to experience Italy though our taste buds. From the food to wine and prosecco, we got to experience Campania, Le Marche, Lombardy and Veneto regions of Italy. We also got a behind the scenes look of making and plating the linguine and the escalope.
It was amazing how the chef, restaurant manager and waiter kept on checking in with us to ensure we had an amazing dining experience. The service was impeccable and also flawless. We would be back for their tableside Negroni and tasting some of their Italian wines on display.Lastly, we finished off with a sweet night cap at Capital Bar and we can’t wait to see how the bar will look when it’s officially open.
