FINE DINING AT ZUMA GRILL, TRANSCORP HILTON ABUJA

The exquisite Zuma Grill at @hiltonabuja is the restaurant perfect for fine dining enthusiasts and lovers of upscale dining. We were treated to an amazing fine dining experience at the recently reopened restaurant.

ENVIRONMENT
It is a clean, intimate and ambient space which features a cool tones, mood lighting, crisp tableware, wine displays, pieces of art, a mirrored accent wall and views of the water fountains. Dinner here starts at 7pm and if you arrive a bit earlier, you can relax in the lounge\bar area of the restaurant.

Before dinner, we had a delicious Cosmopolitan mixed at the bar. The grill is great for intimate dates, formal dinners and formal dates. Since Valentines is around the corner, this place would be a great choice to impress your significant other. Also there’s a dress code here clearly displayed at the entrance.

FOOD
As fire lovers, we opted for “From the Trolley” on the menu which features a 3 course meal which is cooked and served tableside.

We started things off with a 2019 delicious dry red wine from Stellenbosch served with the bread course. The bread course featured 3 kinds of bread served a chilli butter and a herb infused olive oil. The amuse-bouche was polenta topped with mushroom and salted tomatoes. This was easily our least favourite course, Chef Amos explained the idea behind the size of the dish and how it was to be eaten in a single bite.

For Starters, we had prawn and plantain which doused in rum and cooked Flambé style at our table. The prawn had rich flavours of garlic and chilli it was cooked with while the carmelised brown sugar on the plantain was delightful. This course was well balanced, sweet and savoury.

For mains, we had a medium Ribeye Steak which was cooked and seasoned to perfection. This cut of meat was juicy, tender and very flavourful. It was served with steamed veggies, a creamy smooth mash and mildly seasoned gravy. For dessert, we had Pineapple Crêpes with sweet vanilla ice cream also cooked Flambé style at our table. This dessert was infused with cognac and malibu which both retained their flavours even after the pineapple was ignited.

Fine Dining at Zuma Grill was a memorable experience and the definition of the word “exquisite”. The food was delicious, the service was flawless and the impeccable attention to detail shined through in every course.
